Huijun Zu, a graduate from the department of Environmental Science and Engineering, expressed her deep affection to Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College (XMUTKK) by designing a map guide to the college’s accessibility for people with disabilities. She hopes that the college will be filled with warmth and caring.
The Campus Accessibility map originated from Huijun’s thesis “Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College Campus Accessibility Survey”. Based on an investigation of the accessibility of campus roads, buildings, signage etc., Huijun completed her thesis and designed map guide to the accessibility of buildings and roads, and a sightseeing route for the disabled on the campus.
According to Huijun’s research, most of facilities on the campus are designed for people with disabilities. Some current problems, including the shortage of signage, can be solved within a short time with a relatively low investment.
Zu Huijun said: “XMUTKK will be 10 years old in October. I hope this map could offer convenience for visitors on the campus and I also hope the Alma Mater could improve its disabled access to be the first college who could provide convenient access for all.”
