Life in Xiamen

Xiamen, China’s most beautiful, cleanest city, seaport city, has gained the reputation as both “garden on the sea” and “glittering pearl on the sea”.  Xiamen has been rewarded with the title of “the cleanest city of China”, the “garden city of China”, and “China’s Model City of Environment Protection”. Xiamen, with green, rocky mountains is surrounded by the blue South China Sea and basks in warm sunlight and an agreeable climate throughout the entire year.  Xiamen and its surrounding countryside offers and spectacular scenery have been attracting many people from all over the world.

There are wide boulevards and streets, not congested and rarely a “traffic jam”.  The public bus service is excellent providing inexpensive comfortable travel to all parts of the city.  It has an active night lige with many pubs and bars, some with live western music as well as those with floor shows of a Chinese flavor.  Seafood restaurants abound and are more than reasonable. (One pound of steamed fresh shrimp served to you for about 3 USD!!)  There are long expansive beaches of clean white sand and areas of good seimming and bathing and oicnic facilities all easily accessible by clean are-conditioned buses for only one yuan(12 cents USD).  There are lovely tea houses on the top of some mountains that provide a peaceful respite and fantastic view of the entire island and city.  Many parks, lake, and gree areas causes one to feel that you are not in a ‘city”.  All in all it has the best of all worlds providing anybody with the lifestyle of their choice.
